  • Do siblings receive priority enrollment or discounts?
Yes! Siblings of enrolled students receive priority consideration and a 10% discount on tuition for each additional child enrolled.

  • How do you handle grading and testing?

We prioritize Mastery over Mimicry. Instead of traditional letter grades that only tell half the story, we use comprehensive Narrative Evaluations and Student Portfolios. You’ll see exactly what your child has mastered and where they are still growing. For older students, we provide transcript-ready documentation to ensure a seamless transition to any high school—public or private.

  • What about high school? Will my child be ready?

Our goal isn't just to get them into high school, but to ensure they lead there. By the time an IVP student finishes 8th grade, they have spent years in our Pathways Program, presenting to community partners and managing long-form projects. Whether they are aiming for Richmond’s specialized high schools (like Maggie Walker or Governor’s School) or a traditional setting, they arrive with the self-discipline and "soft skills" that top programs crave.

  • What does "City as Campus" actually look like?

It means we don’t just watch documentaries; we go to the source. Our students might spend a morning at the Science Museum of Virginia for physics, or a Wednesday afternoon at Scrap RVA for sustainable engineering projects. We utilize our 10+ community partners to turn the city of Richmond into a laboratory, ensuring learning is never confined to a desk.

  • Do you provide lunch or transportation?

To keep our tuition focused on high-quality instruction and a 1:15 ratio, families provide their own transportation and a "waste-free" packed lunch each day. We provide two snacks a day.

  • Are there extra fees for all those field trips?

No. Your tuition is all-inclusive. We believe that "City as Campus" experiences are a core part of the curriculum, not an "extra." From museum entries to specialist workshops, it’s all covered in your standard tuition.

  • How do the 3-day and 4-day enrollment options work?

We love our homeschool families! Our 3-day and 4-day options allow your student to be a full member of the IVP community while preserving your home-based rhythm.

    • 4-Day: Students attend Monday–Thursday (Core Academics).

    • 3-Day: Students attend Tuesday–Thursday (Core Academic blocks + Enrichment).

Note: Friday "Deep Dives" are always optional for hybrid families.

  • My child is [working ahead / catching up]. Can you handle both?

Absolutely. This is the primary benefit of a 1:15 ratio. Because we aren't tied to a "factory" pace, our teachers can differentiate instruction in real-time. If your child is ready for 8th-grade math while in 6th grade, we provide the runway. If they need an extra month to master a reading concept, we provide the support.

  • What is the "Village" commitment for parents?

We ask our parents to be Collaborators. While you don't have a mandatory "volunteer hour" quota, we invite you to share your expertise. Are you a chef? An engineer? An artist? Our Pathways Program thrives when our parents share their world with our students.
