The Core Pillars of Our Learning Model
1. Student-Led Learning
At Iron Village Prep, we put students in the driver’s seat of their education. By fostering an environment where they can explore their interests, set goals and guide their learning journey, we cultivate self-motivation and a lifelong love of learning.
2. Project-Based Learning
We believe the best learning happens when students tackle real-world problems. Our project-based approach challenges students to research, collaborate and create, all while building critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
3. Mixed-Grade Classrooms
Students thrive when they learn from and with their peers. Our mixed-grade Innovators Room (K-4th) and Trailblazers Room (5th-8th) promote mentorship, collaboration and a deeper understanding of concepts.
4. Language Immersion
Global citizens need global skills. Innovators (K-4th) study Mandarin and Sign Language, while Trailblazers (5th-8th) focus on Spanish and Sign Language. Aftercare programs like the Mandarin Club allow students to extend their learning.
5. Flexible Fridays
Fridays are dedicated to exploration and growth. Whether diving into passion projects, completing assignments or seeking extra help, students have the freedom to deepen their understanding in a supportive, flexible environment.
Rooted in Excellence
Our curriculum aligns with the Virginia Standards of Learning, ensuring that students are equipped to transition seamlessly into public or private high schools. While grounded in these standards, our teaching approach remains dynamic, personalized and innovative to meet the needs of each learner.
