What Makes Our Microschool Unique?
Student-Led, Project-Based Learning
We believe students learn best when they are actively engaged in exploring their interests. Our curriculum is student-led and project-based, allowing learners to dive deeply into topics that inspire curiosity and creativity while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Mixed-Grade Classrooms
Our microschool fosters collaboration and mentorship through mixed-grade classrooms. Students in the Innovators Room (K-4th grade) and the Trailblazers Room (5th-8th grade) learn alongside peers of varying ages, gaining both academic support and leadership opportunities.
Language Immersion & Global Perspective
We’re preparing students to be global citizens:
Innovators (K-4th grade) will learn Mandarin and Sign Language.
Trailblazers (5th-8th grade) will focus on Spanish and Sign Language.
An aftercare Mandarin Club will also be available for students interested in furthering their language studies.
Flexible Fridays
Fridays are designated for project work, independent study or personalized support. This innovative schedule allows students to explore their passions, complete assignments or dig deeper into concepts of interest, inspired by Google’s 10% time.
Rooted in Excellence and Standards
Our curriculum integrates the Virginia Standards of Learning to ensure students have a strong academic foundation and the flexibility to transition seamlessly to public or private high schools. We balance these standards with our student-centered, innovative teaching approach.
